If you play "For Me" backwards and at half speed you can hear Mendez sing "Sarah Palin She Be a Wanton Hussy."

Re: Ahh that Sergio!

Hey, Tyrone, and since you raised in your post and your comment the issue of Bob Barr's impact on the 2008 election let me point out... :)

Re: Ahh that Sergio!

Your fine Ricorun. I know all about Grand Funk. My father was in a band named "Shotgun" from 1974 - 1982 and they were on MCA and ABC Records. They played with Grand Funk. Good bands, live music... Can't beat it!

And what in the heck are YOU talking about Leonidas??? There is something wrong when I write about tiring of political overload and flowing into Sergio Mendes and you come with political talking points. WOW!

Re: Ahh that Sergio!

After months and months of "Change" without substance the Obama campaign really isn't in a great position to attack Palin for 1 week of emphasizing small town values. An attack on this will only further Palin's popularity with smalle town America, a group where Obama already has a great weakness. Palin can't live on the hometown identity alone, but its definately a reasource for her and one that can be used to strengthen her popularity before the upcomming debates on the issues that now must occur. She took the popularity of image out of the democratic advantage column, and the fact that they relied overly much on it has come back to bite them.

Re: Ahh that Sergio!

And now for something completely different. Back in '70, '71, something like that, I went to see these guys, Grand Funk. At the time I aspired to the world of the guitar hero (with a little biker thrown in on the side), and these guys were easy. All formula, fairly easy riffs, yet they were hugely successful and -- more importantly -- chick magnets. Lol!. But it just so happened the warm-up band was Capt. Beefheart and His Magic Band. I never heard of them before. And it took a while before I could appreciate them. They were everything GF weren't. Nothing about them was typical. Song structure, harmonic structure, time structure, they broke all the rules. They were totally off the wall. And on top of it all was this weirdly captivating growl. Howlin' Wolf on acid, I recall thinking. It was like going to a Bach concert and John Cage showed up.

Anyway, I hope I didn't rain on your parade, T. I just thought I'd share.
