Thanks! That's exactly right and where are all the worst of the worst terrorists which are supposedly in Gitmo? Many of those prisoners (or whatever they're being called at the moment) are innocent. They may not have hated the US before, but you can bet your bottom dollar that after being locked up with the keys thrown away, without a chance to dispute the charges against them (if any charges have even been brought up) they sure do hate the US now. I don't blame them either... We're putting them through hell.

And Bush claims to be a compassionate conservative.... He's like the creature from the black lagoon.

Re: Another Aspect to Hamdan and the Proceedings Against Detainees

Yep. He would'a gotten a quicker trial, and a longer sentence on the same charges in federal court. But now, 5 and-a-half years later, the guy's so screwed up mentally (wonder what happened?) he'd probably be deemed incompetent to stand trial in a federal court. Not to worry, however. The government has already said it has the right to keep him confined indefinitely.

So, after 5 and-a-half years, and the destruction of any sense of moral high ground the nation could claim, one person out of thousands detained has actually gone to "trial" - bin Laden's fricken driver - and the best they can do is this.

Heck of a job, Bushies!

Re: Another Aspect to Hamdan and the Proceedings Against Detainees

I think 5 1/2 years is a light sentence too.
