The Moderate Voice: As the Bush-Cheney Agreement on Iraq Is Implemented, more Criticism from Cheney’s Camp

Yes, the Republicans will be claiming that Obama let Iraq go to the Iranians when the Iranians have closer ties to Iraq than we do. After all it is the United States which is the occupying power. The Iranians were happy to swoop in on their long time nemesis Iraq when Bush threw Iraq into chaos.

I think even McCain, Lieberman and Graham were doing the same, however very subtlety, in this WaPo op-ed piece from last Dec.

    StockBoySF:

Although McCain is not the master of subtlety ("Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran!", I agree with you that the trio is somewhat subtle.

    They also say:

"To achieve this, the president-elect, his national security team and all of us in Congress should seek the counsel of Gen. David Petraeus, the head of U.S. Central Command, and Gen. Ray Odierno, commander of coalition forces in Iraq. Gen. Odierno was the operational architect of the surge in 2007, when he served as deputy to Gen. Petraeus, as well as of the tribal engagement strategy that persuaded Sunnis to abandon the insurgency and join our side. Gen. Odierno -- as the current commander on the ground -- is the person whose judgment should matter most in determining how fast and how deep a drawdown can be ordered responsibly..."

    Obama has done exactly that

    Thanks
