Israel has shown that it can defend itself without American assistance, but it's status as an American "ally" enormously complicates relations with other countries in the area, including the Palestinians.

Bringing our land, sea and air forces home, and ceasing our diplomatic and financial meddling in the area, even in the elusive goal of "peace" would allow the people and governments there to sort things out and reach agreement if such agreement is possible. In all events, Mr. Barr, as the Libertarian candidate, should have emphasised the advantages of military and political non-intervention for Americans, and in ceasing subsidies and foreign aid to the various combatants in that troubled region of the world.

PEACE AND FREEDOM!
David K.
