Obama is not JFK, Lincoln, or Jesus Christ, in case any of you have forgotten.

Re: BULLETIN: California’s First Lady Maria Shriver Endorses Barack Obama

We try to forgo (and often remove) comments where people throw around the nazi label. It's best to outline what you think about something in detail, which adds to the discussion. Under our new comments system we don't have our comments policy posted anymore (comments are actually offline on a different server). Let's just keep the discussion the way it is above that comment -- which means it can be vigorous, spirited, etc. Thanks!

Re: BULLETIN: California’s First Lady Maria Shriver Endorses Barack Obama

Oh good. THE NAZI WING OF THE KENNEDY KLAN ENDORSED OBAMA!

http://www.nytimes.com/2008...

Re: BULLETIN: California’s First Lady Maria Shriver Endorses Barack Obama

SteveK,

I grew up in the south and went to public school with large number of blacks. I guess that I am immune to the black preacher act that Senator Obama has been doing the last few weeks. I realize that he is not really saying anything and I realize no matter what he says, he is proposing boilerplate Democratic policies. Maybe the elite white, prep school Ivy league types fall for it more easily than the middle class whites from the south (see the number of whites voting for Obama in South Carolina). Also, since Senator Obama has no background in the black church before adulthood in Chicago, the black preacher act is obviously an act.

I cannot see how someone who came out of the Democratic machine politics of Chicago and is offering standard liberal policy initiatives, cannot really be a change agent and can really get everyone together.

Remember, Senator Obama got his start as a black activist in Chicago. How can someone who got started in the racial shakedown business really develop consensus?

Re: BULLETIN: California’s First Lady Maria Shriver Endorses Barack Obama

Man...that is one nasty picture of Maria! Was she wearing makeup?

So they're all jumping on the Obama bandwagon. I wonder if Hillary goes batshit like LBJ when negative news goes down?

Re: BULLETIN: California’s First Lady Maria Shriver Endorses Barack Obama

Wow - well, thank you for this Joe! Guess those old saws who said that Maria would remain undeclared need to reexamine their thought processes. Oh! wait! that includes me! ;)

Too much. Good for her though - I'm glad she made a public statement about her choice.

Re: BULLETIN: California’s First Lady Maria Shriver Endorses Barack Obama

superdestroyer,

I'm curious, do you go to sleep every night thinking everything will be gone in the morning?

Re: BULLETIN: California’s First Lady Maria Shriver Endorses Barack Obama

Arnold locks in his RINO credentials. Also, I would not call a governor who lost all of his voter initiatives to make changes in California all that popular. Considering the disaster he has made of the budget, he his not a very good administrator and considering that he has passed none of his policy intiatives, he has demonstrated limited leadership. But then again, at The Moderate Voice, a good Republican leader is one that gives the Democrats every thing they want.

Re: BULLETIN: California’s First Lady Maria Shriver Endorses Barack Obama

PaulSilver said: "He would be a magnet to everyone who is willing and able to be open minded."

You hit the nail on the head Paul. It's so nice, especially in these trying times, to hear Obama exude optimism and remind us of the positive avenues available to us... Both been in short supply lately.

It's supposed to be a warm and sunny on Tuesday I think I'll walk over to my polling station and vote for Barack Obama... Right after a round of golf and some lunch.

Re: BULLETIN: California’s First Lady Maria Shriver Endorses Barack Obama

Joe, I watched the event live on CSPAN, when it was over I walked to my computer to comment on it and you had already posted 6 paragraphs! Awesome.

I was moved by the sentiments of Oprah, Michelle Obama, and Maria. The energy was electric with the overwhelming possibilities of hope. So far I haven't felt this way from any of the GOP presentations.

And while I respect McCain for his sacrifice to our country and his trans-partisan leadership; And while I like and respect and believe that Hillary can do a wonderful job as president , it feels that Obama would be transcendent. He would be a magnet to everyone who is willing and able to be open minded.
