Bottom line? Women who are equally credentialed and doing the same job as a male counterpart &lt;i&gt;do&lt;/i&gt; earn about 5% less on average. Of course, this is unacceptable. Interestingly, during the election season, one of those who spoke out against this the most was Sen. Obama, yet a study found that the women on his Senate staff were more poorly paid than women doing comparable jobs on the staffs of some Republican Senate colleagues.
