The Moderate Voice: Fructose Worse Than Glucose?

It is cheap in large part because of farm subsidies.

Thank you for bringing attention to the real problem and past the destructive hype. These subsides are not only hurting the American public, but also the family farmers that they were supposed to help. There is absolutely no reason for these subsidies anymore.

What needs still to be looked at, indeed, is hype and associated demonization. There is no "obesity crisis" [sic], no need for childish people to be upset and fearful, etc. [gag], and no excuse for more PC food faddism and demonizing something. End subsidies that are not merited, but don't engage in far worse social engineering (including taxes on demonized politically incorrect objects of demented hatred).

All that's missing is to set up a "connection" of high fructose corn syrup, obesity, and Global Warming in addition to "depriving" others in the world somehow of healthier food alternatives we "should" be growing.

    [rolling eyes at still-relatively-neglected idiocy]

"There is absolutely no reason for these subsidies anymore."

Not to mention a Cabinet-level Department of Agriculture -- but that makes others uncomfortable at revisiting a fundamental problem of a federal government much too large and interventionist everywhere.
