I think it is foolish to expect Obama to comment on the mess in Gaza. First, I believe the Israelis timed this offensive (defensive) act to try and force Obama's hand. Second, as he has said often, there is only one president. Obama has to wait until the reins are in his hands before saying anything.
Whatever Obama were to say now, would limit his actions down the line.

agree, rfyork. Obama has no more role to play right now than any other Senator. At the end of the month, he can comment as President and assign Sec of State Clinton to a critical mission to the Middle East. Until then, it's up to Bush and Rice to comment or act or not.
