I saw a clip of Pawlenty being interviewed by Joe Scarborough on MSNBC -- and he was practically beaming -- I don't think its Romney.

Also, Pawlenty's background is similar to Biden's --blue-collar--while Romney was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Pawlenty also did away with an enormous deficit without raising taxes. The Base will love him and he'll take that idiotic "No New Taxes" pledge that Grover Norquist makes every GOP candidate sign.

Well, a few weeks ago, my first reaction would have been , "Who in the heck is Tim Pawlenty"? Now, I know something about him--- but the thought remains-- how did a far right winger become governor in a state like Minnesota-- the home of Hubert Humphrey???

But I do agree with the poster-- he's not exactly a power player-- and was probably picked because Rove objected to McCain's other choices. Why isn't his friend Sen. Lindsay Graham in the running?

Don't trust everything on Wikipedia. It's usually quite good. The article on Pawlenty is actually quite good and thorough. But anybody can add something when they want.

I'm a college professor and I always say that Wikipedia is a good FIRST source. But it's a terrible FINAL source.

To add to the speculation, I was clicked on that Wiki entry earlier this evening. It mentioned that on August 28th 2008 he was offered the position of Republican nominee for the Republican party. It has since come down.
