    The result will certainly not be peace. I don't even see how it could be construed as a baby step in that direction.

    It's unfortunate that this conflict rages on and on, but what's even worse as an American is that we are forced to fund it and supply the arms used to continue the cycle of violence. As a result, our standing in the world, and our vulnerability to terrorist attacks rises and falls with that of Israel.

    And....we're buying the Iranian and Chinese rockets for Hamas? Please don't tell me you're as far off the deep end as DQ's comments in the other thread became? Do you really think it only takes one to tango? Both sides have enough people on them who have absolutely no interest in peace unless it's the peace acquired from genocide to keep this conflict going for decades. In fact I think that's their fate and there is not one thing that we can do about it. The U.S. supports Israel in part because it's not just the Palestinians who are their enemies but multiple other nations. You despair of the cycle of violence. But exactly what do you think would happen if we turned our back on them? Some magic burst of compassion in the hearts of Hamas? Or do you agree with DQ about the wisdom of wiping out Israel?

    If Hamas is getting Grad missiles from whoever, what is the likelyhood of anti-tank missiles and RPGs also in their weapons cache/ This could be a repeat of the Lebanon mess, with Israelis invincibility taking a fatal blow. There are even reports of Fajr-3 rockets in Hamas' arsenal. But how are 800 pound 15 foot rockets smuggled in Egyptian tunnels?
