McCain's answer was inartful. That's it.

How this relates to his enrgy policy, I fail to see.
His Lexington Project is every bit as vague as anybody elses. It also holds out false promises, IMO.
If he wants to fill the gap by dirlling, he would have to explain why there is no drilling happening now in available areas. Clearly there are problems not solved by merely saying 'drill'.

Even long range, the amount of freshly drilled oil would have only a small impact on imports and prices.

I hope Obama sticks to not making false promises about oil but prepares the nation for a rough future, instead, We have to adapt, and think long term, not look for miracles.

I do wonder, though, why neither has talked about drilling for gas, not just oil.

Yea I think he was saying that it doesn't matter the last time he actually pumped it, not how much it is.

McCain should start asking the reporters when the last time they lived for a week on the bugs they captured in their cell. Maybe that would get overplayed, but smacking down the next idiot who asks this has a certain quality.
