shannonlee · 5 months agoGiving out parts of a software app is SOP for many companies. This isn't anything new....just new for Microsoft. Eventually, you end up needing something that you don't get for free and you buy the whole package.

mikkel · 5 months agoIf you look at the product roll out over the next two years -- from OS to apps to developer tools -- I think there is a strong case to be made that the 2004-2009 period will be very similar to the AMD/Intel battle that started with the Athlon and drove Intel to develop core 2 that demonstrated it had recovered technological and market dominance. The question will be execution and whether Microsoft has alienated too many customers over the years to have it stick.

WebTechWatcher · 5 months agoMicrosoft or Google it is not an either or thing any more, take the group over at www.mydatanest.com for example they offer the same sort of collaboration as what the paid version of this app will have.
