First, Larry Johnson has been blogging for quite a while now. He’s a former CIA spy with many contacts and an interesting perspective to bring to us. Backing a tape like this would likely be a crippling shot to his credibility.

Have you read his blog in the past few months?

The credibility horse left the barn a long time ago for Larry.

Nope. I'll bet the speculation keeps on going all the way to the election and beyond. It's based on nothing at all, it's just a low level buzz to give an impression about Obama. Even this article, how ever unintentionally, keeps the idea alive and perpetuates the buzz. It's better just to ignore baseless rumor mongering.

Larry Johnson is a DLC Democrat - not very progressive and soft necon. The last thing he wants is someone who might actually change things.

Larry Johnson famously came out in an Op-Ed piece in the NYT in July 2001 telling us all that George Tenet was totally off-base in his repeated warnings about an increase in internet "chatter" meaning an imminent attack on the US. Tenet was over the top, Larry said, and completely hysterical because he didn't understand Arabs or terrorism.

Given what happened in September, I'd take NO QUARTER's repeated Michelle alerts as the "hysteria" that LJ projected onto George Tenet back in 2001.
