The Moderate Voice: Palin Crack-Up News Continues

  • JWindish · 5 months ago
JWest, I don't know what studies you are referring to. I suspect it's a case of you have yours, I have mine. This one, for example, finds liberals more willing to read conservative blogs than vice versa.

No, I don't accept the party line. I would compare Palin, favorably, to Hillary Clinton. Clinton never quit. Nor did any governor but 2 scandalous dems in the entire 20th century. And, again, I quoted mainstream Republicans as well as dems.

Truth and balance from newsbusters? That's a laugh.

Jim said "Truth and balance from newsbusters? That's a laugh"

That story came directy from politics daily and I find them to be a very good news source.

Come on, JWest! I included Greta Van Susteren and the two Dem governors who quit in scandal. You consider Newsbusters "balance?" The "little truth" part I agree with.

I can appreciate why some among our right leaning brethren would prefer the media to just forget about Palin. Afterall, she represents their failed judgement during a (very recent) time when they embraced and defended her as credible POTUS material. Democrats hardly need to say a word about her though, what with all the conservatives who are stepping up and publicly recognizing her as a liability. The media will let her go on the backburner when she stops thrusting herself into the limelight.

Btw, I too am looking forward to the (alleged) study that supports jwest's contention. Is it coming soon???

    Being Sarah Palin:

    PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN.

    PALIN PALIN PALIN?

    PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN.

    PALIN PALIN. PALIN?

    PALIN!

PALIN, PALIN, PALIN...PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN PALIN

    So true, AR!

Unfortunately, she's not the only one hearing it!
  • GeorgeSorwell · 5 months ago
    Jwest--

C'mon, where's your study that says "that those on the left tend not to read material outside of their political mindset"?

    I want to read it! ; )

Watching Palin trying to justify her reasons for quitting as Governor is like "rubber necking", or eating junk food. You know you shouldn't do it, but sometimes just can't help yourself.

Although the Palin admirers keep complaining about the excessive posts on TMV on Sarah Palin, it is interesting how interested they are in them,,,interested enough to keep commenting on them, how fed-up they are with them...,
  • AustinRoth · 5 months ago
Um, Dorian, it is not just the admirers who complain about excessive posting about her.
  • StockBoySF · 5 months ago
    I'm still rooting for a Palin/Limbaugh (or Limbaigh/Palin) 2012 ticket.

["He claims he heard the governor several times say how nice it would be to take advantage of the lucrative deals that were being offered, including a reality show and a book"]--

That was several weeks back. Those "deals" have probably dried up since her attempt to become a credible and popular conservative spokesman utterly failed.

Maybe she resigned because she suddenly discovered that she was the last to realize that she is an embarrassment to the GOP. Seems to me she left with her head between her legs in shame. I suspect this especially because of that little "head shake" from John McCain a few weeks ago regarding a question about her viability.

Rupert Murdock has big plans for Sarah Palin.

Palin's book deal is with HarperCollins Publishers... a Murdock owned media property.

Btw, when will Sarah appear on 'Meet the Press'?

I hope she does, 'Saturday Night Live' will have comedic material for weeks if she does.

Poor Peggy Noonan is taking quite a beating over at WSJ for her column. I thought it was a thoughtful column.
  • MReynolds · 5 months ago
Interesting the Van Susteren thing. Todd Palin's been hanging around quite a bit with John Coale, Van Susteren's husband and heavy in the Scientology cult. I don't watch Van Susteren so I don't know if she typically launches these kinds of defensive broadsides or not.

Someone should analyze whether Palin's use of Christian rhetoric has diminished or changed in the last few months. I wonder if the cult has its tentacles into her.

Not that we want to bring a little truth and balance to TMV, but just in case:

not that we want to bring a little truth and balance to tmv, but just in case
by citing a newsbusters article that reports what carl cannon says? carl cannon, now writing for politics daily web site, formerly for readers digest?

balancing the moderate voice w/a newsbuster report about carl cannon's opinion is like balancing mr. rogers neighborhood w/jeff gannon's report on what paris hilton thinks. the parts that aren't overtly partisan are simply irrelevant.

More than in the media, not to mention here, though some of us at least provide a needed counter-current.

    Joe,

Studies have shown that those on the left tend not to read material outside of their political mindset. This makes it easier for them to accept the story line being advanced by liberals, as readers don’t need to process conflicting information.

Apparently, the party line makes perfect sense to you. You seem to have accepted the idea that an intellectually dull, incompetent, self-serving person like Palin could defeat the entrenched corporate and political interests in Alaska and obtain an 80% approval rating, probably based on her view of abortion.

Of course you’re right. All the right wing websites are lying and making up quotes from the journalist who covered the campaign. It’s simply common sense.

Whenever I read about people putting money into some scheme from a “government official” from Nigeria, I wonder who could possibly fall for that? Then I remember, there’s a lot of Democrats around.
  • jwest · 5 months ago
    Joe,

    Mainstream Republicans like Andrew Sullivan?

    Thanks.
  • tidbits · 5 months ago
For an interesting counterpoint, read Peggy Noonan's WSJ article followed by Matthew Continetti's article in the Weekly Standard. Same subject, completely different points of view. Both articles are biased and cherry-pick the facts to support their particular argument. But, if you read them both instead of just one, you can fill in the middle and, maybe find some balance.
  • JWindish · 5 months ago
JW, No, no, no NOT Sullivan. We're in agreement there.
  • DLS · 5 months ago
You're blundering again, J. Spencer. The media and other liberals are the ones at the forefront and nearly everywhere else neurotically putting her in the spotlight, as on this liberal Web site. (The scummier attacks only motivate even us non-fans-or-advocates of her to defend her, attacks that no doubt also will boost her book sales, which I hope enrich her as deservedly as these attacks more than she deserve.)
  • DLS · 5 months ago
"Whenever I read about people putting money into some scheme from a 'government official' from Nigeria"

I'm surprised these schemes haven't advanced to include photos of Obama or an altered Obama photo, or claims that the official is related to Obama.

As to Palin, I bet nobody else on here has actually read the Vanity Fair piece about her (which is far from the usual fluff -- and beyond something the likes of, say, Andrew Sullivan could actually compose):

"You consider Newsbusters 'balance?' The 'little truth' part I agree with."

RE: "Little truth" and "balance" in the media:

It's a mere hand-push moving to aright the scales, against a liberal anvil.

Shorter Newsbusters article: But but but Biden was an idiot too!
  • D. E.Rodriguez · 5 months ago
Finally Sarah palin showed some honesty when she said she had "a higher calling," making big bucks.

Let's at least compliment her for that
  • D. E.Rodriguez · 5 months ago
OK, AR, some non-admirers, too :).
