Trapping protesters on a bridge and squeezing from both ends has been used many times in human history as a harsh crackdown tactic. The little information we have from Wednesday points to exactly that. With axes in this case. The world's media has so far missed it, but if it's true, there is still time for them to get that out in a big way.

Also, there is no such thing as a "reliable" or "trusted" source in Iran today. The media dismissed Wednesday's news based (in part) on "trusted" sources inside Iran who were reporting minimal activity.

If a reliable source were ever to lie, this would be the time. In fact, most of those reliable sources may have guns pointed at their head (or their daughter's head) compelling them to dis-inform the western media (and maybe other westerners based in Iran).

The question now becomes, did the White House and other governments also miss it? Less likely. And did the people of Iran miss it? Certainly not.
