I would fit that in the category of "whatever else could be said". It was certainly a little awkward, but it doesn't detract from the larger issue -- the fact that Palin did the right thing when she didn't have to.

Let me put it a different way... Sarah Palin is not evil incarnate, and anyone who insists in thinking in those terms will be disappointed at minimum, and crushed at maximum. Even if you disagree with her opinions, she is in many ways a very genuine, compelling and capable person with a great deal of social appeal. Those are her strengths. So... what would Rove do? Hehe.

Guess that depends on what your definition of sold, is.
What you all need to ask yourselves- Is Sarah Palin running for VP or President? Legally she's only obligated to the position she's been called to. Wonder if she'll slip Johnny a mickey finn and ship him down the river.

Point of fact- no Presidential candidate picks a governor out of the gate as a running mate. McCain's been in the mix for many years, as has Obama and Biden- Palin's crash course is going to crash and burn.

I'm not sure I ascribe to jwest's analysis -- with or without the KY jelly, :-) -- but the bottom line is Palin did the right thing to sell that jet. Sure, the state might have taken a hit on the selling price relative to the original buying price (duh -- who woulda guessed you couldn't sell a "previously owned" vehicle for the same price as a new one), but keeping it would have been much more expensive. If you're trying to criticize Palin, this isn't the way to do it because whatever else could be said, in the end she really did save the state money by getting rid of not only a symbol of frivolous excess but an actual one.

The car selling example was in response to you and your mathematical soul mate Elrod’s discussion of the “loss” suffered by the State of Alaska on the plane sale.

It was to illustrate that the difference between a price listed on Ebay and the actual selling price to a willing buyer is not a loss.

Look, if you’re going to cite quotes, go directly to the source – Daily Kos. If something real pops up, you’ll hear about on the right wing blogs.

But just to show I’m not a bad guy, let me give you a tax tip.

Take the car you’re driving now and list it on Ebay for $600,000. Wait a reasonable amount of time to see if you get a buyer (who knows, there are a lot of gullible people out there).

If for some odd reason the car doesn’t sell at the listed price, go ahead and sell it locally.

Subtract the amount you get from the original $600,000 listing price and that is your loss on the car.

Claim this loss on your next tax return.

Did you both pick up this line of thinking over at TalkLeft?

Didn’t you see that even Jeralyn’s loyal fan club ripped her up and down for trying to make something out of an obviously innocent and republican-beneficial set of facts?

Their (quite logical) argument was that by harping on this shows a blatant distortion by the left that reduces their credibility, so that when something of substance comes up, they will be laughed off the web.

Of course, if you truly believe that the mileage you are getting with your ridiculous assertions will swing the critical vote here on TMV, keep it up.

I guess for old liberals like Shaun, talking about Palin keeps him from thinking about how the Democrats can promise the largest expansion of entitlement spending since the Johnson Administration while promising a tax cut for 95% of Americans while proposing the largest regulatory scheme since the creation of the EPA while promising higher paying jobs while promoting open borders and unlimited immigration.

I guess worry about the children of the candidate (which everyone knows Shaun did not give a flip about the multiple arrests of the Gore Children eight years ago) makes up for the more government spending for everyone but rich whites that the Democrats are promsing.
