Another nail in the GOP coffin if she is the 2012 nominee. There is a related post at http://iamsoannoyed.com/?p=2048

Another related post... Starting with "RedState’s Dear Leader" Erick Erickson:
    Emboldened
"I think the left and press will now be emboldened to ritualize the gang raping of conservative politicians, particularly female conservative politicians."

Eric's "gang rape" comment was closely followed by another "RedState Republican" who opined:

And We Need To Retaliate by Going After Theirs
Biden’s kids, Obama’s kids, all the Kennedys elected or not, etc.
We *need* to go after them.
If we don’t, we’re just inviting more of this.
We need to ‘poison the well’ in a BIG way.

My, my, my those kids over at RedState sure can get worked up... It's a hundred and fifteen (115º F) now here in Yuma BUT that feels cool compared to what's happening over on the right, right now.

    UPDATE: It's now a hundred and eighteen (118º F)

"The problem is, Palin already is the darling of the Republican base and could win the nomination by virtually sweeping the primaries."

    Just like Hillary Clinton did...

I think the power of the Republican base is overestimated while their intelligence is underestimated. The Republican primary is a grueling battle among the strongest, most experienced, powerful, and savvy politicians in the world. Gov Palin already achieved the impossible -- losing a Vice Presidential campaign (even Dan Quayle couldn't do that). Just one or two mistakes and the competition will destroy her (ask Howard Dean). And she will make plenty of them. I dont see how Gov Palin chance of winning of the Republican primary -- she does not have the stature, leadership skills, knowledge, speaking ability, demeanor, power base, or the money. The Republican base isn't that powerful nor that stupid...

Why did she resign? I think the republicans are trying to shut her up. Someone has told her she has a chance at national office and offered some preliminary funding promises. So she gets out there makes more laughable statements, her polls drop and her preliminary funding dries up. Oops, no more Gov of Alaska pulpit to stand on anymore. I could be wrong. Could just be pregnant with Don King's love child or sumthin.
