Chris - of course it is his prerogative, as with all Cabinet choices, and Supreme Court nominations and the like. But silly me, I remember a lot of strum und drang from the Left when Bush did not properly consult (in their view) with Congress about said appointments.

Perhaps my memory fails me. Or perhaps any criticism of Saint Obama is heresy.

But either way, professional and political courtesy would have at least had Obama informing Feinstein of his choice, rather than finding out through the press.

Well, I am no fan of Senator Feinstein, but not informing, if not providing a &#39window dressing&#39 consultation, to the head of the Intelligence Committee, and a senior member of you own party, is more than bad form.

Perhaps Obama took her at her word when she told people not to question the President&#39s prerogative in picking the CIA chief. She of course said this while Bush was prez.

The apparent decision to seat Roland Burris came after aides to President-elect Barack Obama contacted senior Senate Democrats and suggested that they reverse course and accept Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s controversial appointment, according to a senior Dem congressional aide.

Sounds like another Imperial Presidency in the making.............
