Well this is only true because of the stupid nature of the primary voting process, and is in fact almost guranteed by it. With it strung out over months like it is the last states to vote are almost certain to be left out of the process. Not only that, but if by some chance those final states are important, their actions are almost certainly going to be influenced by whats happened in the process already. All in all, a very bad system.

I'm actually happy the Dem primary went on to the end- to give everyone a chance to vote. And I don't blame the superdelegates for waiting to throw their support behind Obama. If they had flocked to him (or Hillary) earlier, then it would have taken the selection of the candidate (and more to the point, the delegates) out of the hands of the people. The second reason is that these superdelegates will need to work with both Hillary and Obama in the future. It's probably not a good idea to alienate a future supporter.

Given that Obama now has the delegates needed to win the nomination, it really doesn't matter who the other superdelegates support.

But what is most important now if for Hillary to recognize Obama as the presumptive nominee and begin throwing her weight behind him. She claims she will do whatever it takes to unify the party behind the nominee in the fall, but her actions belie her words. Hillary continues to be a divisive figure and this is just another example of why she lost my support at the end of last year. (I have always been an Obama supporter, but at times I did consider supporting Hillary.)

So to the extent the superdelegates can pressure Hillary to support Obama, they need to do so.

This infighting among the Dems is why all my Republican friends and relatives intensely hate the Dems- they see the Dems as being unable to pull the Dem Party together. And if they can't pull their own party together, then how are the Dems expected to lead the country? I just wish someone would talk some sense into Hillary and Bill.

I feel that I've been very patient throughout this whole process, including being patient with Hillary... but I'm just ready to start frothing at Hillary if she continues to drag the Dem Party down with her. Enough is enough. It's time to stop being like Bush and face reality.

Trying to remember exactly what or whom caused this "rift"? Their two platforms are so similar, and he ran the better, high-road minded campaign. She did not & lost because of it.

I'm just shocked the Dem leadership has taken so long to put the screws to the superdelegates. Good lord this should have been over months ago. Frankly Obama seems to be the only one in the party that knows whats going on and does anything about it.

Edwards is a prime example. Waiting until its all but decided to throw in his support for Obama. Way to show some initative, and why we are glad you didnt' get the nomination.

I think that folks are continuing to miss the forest for the trees. The DNC leaders need a chip count to determine how to structure the "unity" deal with the Clinton/DLC camp. They MUST have that deal to take a good shot in the fall election.

Blow off Clinton, lose the White House. Buy out Clinton, have a good shot at it. Not rocket surgery.

Hillary again stops short of showing grace and sportsmanship.
She could have taken the high road and said, well I gave it my all- look how far I made it, better luck next time. But no, the campaign is, has been and always will be about her personal,vain quest for power and how to game the system without thinking down the road as to how to actually take the tiller and re-steer this country back on track. It's not all about you Hill!!!! It's about US!!!!
