On the R side, Mitt turns off evangelicals and w/o them the R's cannot win, while McCain's insanity about the war means he won't win.

This leaves an opening for Rudy on the R side, for he is a social liberal who can fuel the R testosterone factor, but more so it leaves open a good 40+% of the electorate begging for a common sense candidate who has a decent track record and a core set of principles. That kills Rudy and makes Bloomberg a taller, saner Perot. And 40% of the voter can win the election with a Hill-Mac/Mitt race.

Re: The Fog Begins to Part? And that will pull the air right out of the energetic balloon.

Re: The Fog Begins to Part? If the national Republican Party has the same sort of death wish that the Illinois Democratic Party manifestly does, I believe Romney will be their candidate.

Additionally, I believe that a Clinton-Romney match will turn out very much as the last two presidential elections, a close, bitter contest, with the exception that the Democrat will prevail due to GWB's reverse coattails.

If Clinton emerges as the Democratic nominee don't expect the record turnout for Democrats to continue. If you don't believe me, check who is voting for Clinton in the primaries.
