I just saw the update and saw this by Singer (Hillary), "We have not, are not and will not pursue the pledged delegates of Barack Obama. It’s now time for the Obama campaign to be clear about their intentions.”

Well, I don't think Obama was ever charged with contemplating taking HIll's pledged delegates so I don't think it's necessary for him to respond.

But if there is an allegation against him, I hope Obama does respond. The closest allegation is Singer saying that he assumes that Obama is going after Hillary's pledged delegates. If the Hillary campaign can think that about the Obama campaign, then it's certainly something that the Hillary campaign has thought of doing.

If for whatever reason the Dems use either superdelegates or pledged ones to give Clinton the nomination when the popular votes didn't go that way, McCain is going to wreck Clinton in the general election as all the moderates run to his camp.

I want a brawl to erupt in the convention, and riots outside it if the supers try to fix some kind of deal the voters can't stand. It's almost enough to make the rest of us create pictures of those angry anti-establishment lefties with a US patrotic motif.

As much as I would prefer that everyone resolve their differences in a pleasant and friendly manner, sometimes the best way to resolve a conflict is to fight it out.
"What doesn't kill us makes us stronger" may be the appropriate path for the winner of the Democratic nomination, then the presidency and ultimately with the competitors of modern liberal democracy.

I'm certain that the Obama campaign is or will be doing the same darn thing.

And if they do, I'll be among the first to condemn them for it. As pointed out, this isn't about Superdelegates who aren't apportioned by the popular vote.

And frankly, I don't hear any dissapointment in your comments on this story. I can assure you, I would be extremely dissapointed if Obama tried to thwart the will of the voters. And I would be extremely vocal about that dissapointement.

Then again, the Clinton campaign is now claiming The Politico made this story up out of whole cloth. We'll see how they respond.

Holly, the delegates in question are the pledged delegates allocated based on the primary/caucus votes. Nothing to do with superdelegates (pledged or otherwise).

Because it is the DNC's rules that allow Hillary to even contemplate such a repulsive approach, I'm feeling uncomfortable just now with supporting any candidate from the Democrats. And I say that as an Obama supporter.

Superdelegate Support Scrutinized

An Associated Press review of superdelegates and who they are supporting for president "turned up three dozen cases in which they hold positions contrary to the expressed will of their own constituents."

There are 21 cases of superdelegates supporting Sen. Hillary Clinton even though their districts or states voted for Obama. There are 14 instances where the superdelegate supports Obama when their constituents support Clinton.

The review also shows "33 elected officials who are superdelegates and publicly uncommitted in the presidential race, even though their constituents went for Obama. Another 24 are neutral despite their voters siding with Clinton."

I'm not sure what's new here, other than the specific tactic. We all know that Hillary will do anything, including dividing the Democratic Party, to become president.

It's a shame- when Obama first announced his candidacy I considered her to be my second choice. And even though I have since decided I can not vote for her because of her tactics (and certain of her recent votes which support Bush's policies) I still go to her web site and see that she has a great background and is to be admired for what she has accomplished.

But then these horrendous tactics (and I remember her recent votes) and any admiration I have to look past her faults all go out the window.

This is exactly how she will govern in DC and this is exactly what we do not need. I've said before that while many of her policies are different than Bush's she uses the same secretive, dirty tactics as he does because the Bush/Clinton rule in DC has created and honed them. It's all she knows on how to operate.
