I thought the gay pride parades purpose these days was Democratic fundraising.

I wish I remembered where I read but even the creators of the policy at this point or fine repealing it. And so are some GOP. Unfortunately it does seem like a pressing issue.

But don't you understand how much Republican fundraising will be lost if the party can't march its quadrennial gay pride parade of horribles before certain segments of its base?

May Mr. Helms RIP and the GOP be born anew (not that I have a stake, but it's painful to watch the apologists for intolerance in our pluralistic country).

Agreed, if they'd spend the money & energy they do on homophobia on the REAL issues faced by our soldiers they'd be much better served.

They have changed. This is 2008, not 1958 or 1968.

"Just shoot straight." And I doubt that anyone's going to care about the sexual orientation of others in their unit during combat, when it would matter the most.
