The Moderate Voice: The U.S. Media’s Moral Relativity on Torture

Sure we are hypocrites. I wonder what nations are not hypocrites concerning such behavior. Again, my greatest concern, is that nobody above the enlisted rank of E-6 was ever prosecuted for torture at Abu Gareb. That is disgusting.

Well, I agree with you, Father_Time.

What's the big deal? I think it was jwest who described this kind of stuff, not as torture, but simply "somewhat uncomfortable interviews".

There is no moral relativism (to use the correct term). All but a fringe know it is torture (and the fringe who honestly deny it is torture often support it, which is why they're fringey), and the Bush-Cheney legal game-playing was just that, a legalistic campaign, not impugning everyone else, much less the USA, which isn't the Evil Nation among the world some would insist we are. Compounding the legal games the Bush-Cheney inner circle played was the nature of the people who simply used that as one of many excuses to express their hatred and vile behavior toward any favored non-PC object -- they always have looked worse than the Bush-Cheney people themselves.
