"&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I hope that works out as predicted.  There is a vast swath of conservatives,, however,  who believe that giving any ground at all is a betrayal of their principles,  Some would rather stale-mate Congress into oblivion than move an inch.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Whether or not that results in losing their seats in elections depends on their constituents.  I wonder if some would retain theri seats precisely because they have proved to be immovable.
