perhaps the world has lost track of the Burma's deck of rigged card. . . surely Than Shwe's face is on Burma's Joker/Jester cards?

sometimes it is hard to know who the Jesters are in this world. . . some Jokers are truly wild. . .

the roles for the Jester get reversed. . . the jester once amused the ruler of a nation. . . nowadays too often the rulers titillate the people with their blowups, torch throwing, and lewd power antics. . . " foolocracy" where the jesters are the dictators of people that run the courts and plunder the country. . . mercy!. . .

Zarganar, just about one handedly saved the ancient tradition of Anyeint (a type of stand up comedy that's been done in Burma for countless ages). He's done so very much for the Burmese arts, Burmese comedy and tradition ....His desperate efforts to help the Burmese during the Cyclone Nargis catastrophe.
That he's been put in prison due to his "offensive comments" is beyond tragic.

A Burmese comedy troupe (Thee Lay Thee) has this as part of their show:

“You know, the joke about Burma’s leaders showing off in front of other world leaders. The American president says proudly at a gathering of statesmen: “An American without legs can climb Mount Everest,” the Russian president then says, “A Russian without arms can swim across the Atlantic.” The other world leaders are stunned by these two statements but then the Burmese leader comes to the rescue and says, “In my country, a man without a head and brain can run the country for 20 years.”

Funny and true all at the same time, eh?

Thank you for reminding us Doc! We need to keep people such as Zarganar in our thoughts, our prayers and remind others of their sacrifices.
If we don't ... How long before their efforts are forgotten? :(

    Happy New Years btw!
